University of Science & Technology Chittagong (USTC) is a private University in Bangladesh. It was incepted in the year 1989, with the sponsorship of a private charity. At that time, USTC had its name as the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS). However, some years later, the University was upgraded to a full-fledged University after the implementation of the Private University Act, 1992. It is the foremost private University in Bangladesh. The University of Science and Technology, Chittagong has seven faculties, namely the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology (FSET), Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Basic Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Biochemistry & Biotechnology, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, Faculty of English.

University of Science and Technology is one of the recognized universities for doing MBBS in Bangladesh. It is intended to promote professionalism and excellent leadership, serving the technological progress and development needs of the nation. The USTC has opened up a new door for high-quality medical, pharmaceutical, business, and advanced technological education in the country. The key objective of setting up USTC is to enhance the quality and standard of education in science and technology, with a special emphasis on medicine, pharmacy, and social science. It also aims at developing human resources in developing countries with special emphasis on South and South-East Asia.

The college has a good ratio of expert and highly knowledgeable faculty members with all the know-how of advanced technology. Moreover, International collaborations are actively supported to give researchers, educators, and students the best opportunities to enter into collaborations with leading technical universities from all around the world. Through International collaboration, USTC has achieved a greater influence and prominence.  Notably, the University is acknowledged and accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.

University and Accommodation of University of Science and Technology Chittagong

Situated near Foy's lake in Chittagong, the University of Science and Technology has a seven-storied library building. The library at the campus has three sections equipped with the latest technology and can accommodate 150 readers at a time. For the students, USTC provides well-stocked learning resources. The USTC campus also features an exceptional auditorium. There is a gallery available for an audience of 1000 people. The Auditorium is appropriate for hosting conferences and seminars. Furthermore, the 220-bed  (BBMH) Teaching hospital of USTC is the largest private hospital in Chittagong.

The University has a hostel hall for female students. It can accommodate both international and non-local females. Then, there is one hostel for male students, the Syedur Rahman International Hall. Both hostel halls are located within the campus.

Student life at University of Science and Technology Chittagong

There is a multi-cultural environment at the University of Science and Technology, Chittagong. The students will get several facilities by the University, such as Medical facilities, Library, Computer labs, Scientific labs, Cafeteria, Hostel accommodation, Hospital for clinical practice, and more. Alongside the academic courses, the students are also encouraged to take actively participation in extracurricular activities. The University has an arrangement of extracurricular activities for its students. Such as sports and games, debates, seminars, and cultural activities. All extracurricular activities are held by the Student Welfare Council of USTC.
