About Women's Medical College, Sylhet

Sylhet Women's Medical College is a private medical school in Bangladesh, exclusively for women. It is a renowned medical college in the country and is situated in Mirboxtola in central Sylhet. The College was founded by the Holy Sylhet Holding Limited (HSHL). In 2007, Holy Sylhet Holding Limited incepted the College and hospital with the permission of the Government of Bangladesh, after completing all the necessary formalities with the respective Ministries, Departments, Medical Associations, and affiliations. Earlier, it was affiliated with the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) under its School of Medical Sciences, but as of 2019, it is now affiliated with the Sylhet Medical University (SMU). The College has its teaching hospital, both College and hospital collectively referred to as Women's Medical College & Hospital. It is the first private Women's College in the Sylhet & Chittagong division. This institution among the popular non-government medical colleges in Bangladesh. The student population in the institute includes international students from India, Nepal, Middle East, Canada, United Kingdom, and other nations.

The mission of Sylhet Women’s Medical College is to provide high-quality medical education to all students. Courses offered at Women's Medical College, Sylhet

The Sylhet Women's Medical College offers a five-year-long academic course leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. The students have to compulsorily accomplish a clinical internship of one year after their graduation. However, the Indian Students have the option of doing this Internship in their home country India. The degree is approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).

There are two chief buildings on the 3 acres (1.2 ha) campus: one high-rise containing the College and another containing the associated 625-bed teaching hospital built on 130,000 square feet of land in the heart of Sylhet. Fully-equipped high-class laboratories are available in all the departments. Besides, a cafeteria is also there on the campus.
