The National Medical College is a private institute providing a lofty standard of medical education in Nepal since its establishment in the year 2001. It is situated at Birgunj in Nepal. This institution runs under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University at Kathmandu, Nepal. The National Medical College offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate level programs. Some of the popular ones are MBBS, MD, MS, MPH (Master in Public Health). The MBBS course continues for a span of 5 and half years which can be broken down into 4 and half years accompanied by 1 year of compulsory internship training. In order to facilitate systematic teaching and learning, the curriculum of MBBS is divided into three phases. The first phase of the MBBS program occupies the first and the second year of the course when subjects like Intermediate Sciences, Integrated Basic Medical Sciences like Pharmacology, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pathology, and Biochemistry along with Clinical Orientation are taught.

The second phase takes up the third year of the course which concentrates on clinical disciplines like Surgery, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine, etc, Community Medicine like applied epidemiology, family health exercise as well as Forensic Medicine. The third and the final phase continue till the fifth year of the program when Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Accident and Emergency Medicine, Radiology, ENT, Community Medicine followed by clinical training are stressed on. The final phase also requires students to go through clinical rotation in major clinical subjects along with attending seminars and case presentations. Alongside clinical course programs, the National Medical College has also known to possess a separate campus offering an array of certificate and undergraduate courses in nursing such as Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) Nursing, B.N.(Post Basic)Nursing, B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) in Nursing.

The National Medical College provides student accommodations that are separate for both male and female students. Hostel rooms at this institution are of single occupancy with an attached bathroom with both hot and cold water. Mess service is also available to students along with a hostel serving palatable and hygienically prepared food.
