Monno Medical College & Hospital (MMC) is a not-for-profit private medical college in Bangladesh. The main campus of the college is situated beside the Dhaka–Aricha Highway at Monno City, Gilondo, in the district of Manikganj of Dhaka Division. Late Harunar Rashid Khan Monno, the Honorable Chairman of Monno Group of Industries, founded this medical college in 2011. It is a concern of the Monno Welfare Foundation. The Monno Medical College is affiliated with the University of Dhaka. The medical college has all the preclinical clinical, para-clinical, and clinical departments with expert teachers and all the essential facilities. Notably, Monno medical college has ten years of experience in the field of medicine & healthcare.
Monno Welfare Foundation has set up Monno Medical college to develop outstanding physicians with all the core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, practical-based learning, communication skills, professionalism, and system-based practice. The Monno Medical College is approved by the Government of Bangladesh. It is also well recognized by the MCI (Medical Council of India) and the Dental Council of India. The college is further globally recognized by the World Health Organization and the European Medical Council. This Medical College is one of the top 50 medical colleges in Bangladesh. In just a short span, the college has gained considerable standards and fame.
The Monno Medical College offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree. After graduation, a one-year internship is mandatory for all graduates. The Internship is a prerequisite for obtaining registration from the BMDC to practice medicine. The degree is approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
The Monno Medical College is situated in Monno City, Gilondo, Ghior Upazila, 7 kilometers west of Manikganj, on the south side of the Dhaka–Aricha Highway. The campus area has beyond 13 acres of lush land with natural beauty. An artificial lake is also there in the college campus area. The main college building is a ten storied building with a total floor space of 1,22,000 sq. ft. The Monno Medical College Hospital is the hospital of this college. The hospital is situated on the doorstep of the college building. It is a five-story building having 1,42,000 sq. ft. floor space, and functioning as a 500-bed hospital equipped with all modern facilities for treatment of different kinds of diseases with a team of highly qualified doctors. The outdoor and emergency treatments are furnished in a two-storied building annexed to the main hospital.
Besides, there are four lecture galleries with a computer multimedia projector, seven spacious laboratories, three museums, one dissection room, one library, and one computer lab for the students. Also, Monno Medical College Hospital has separate hostels for male and female students, male and female interns, a dormitory for doctors and professors. There are two four-storied hostels for the students, namely the H.R. Khan Boys hostel and Hurun Nahar Girls Hostel. Besides Abdus Shukur Khan Doctors dormitory for male interns and Rabeya Khatun Doctors Dormitory for female interns, and H.R. Khan Doctors quarter, Monno Professors Quarter respectively.
There is a multi-ethnic environment at Monno Medical College. At the campus, there is a well-furnished library with abundant books, journals, and periodicals to aid the students in their studies. One modern computer lab having adequate computers with an internet connection is also there. A spacious cafeteria lies on the campus that offers food & refreshments to the students. Besides, the hostels are equipped with luxurious furniture and modern facilities.
Facilities for indoor and outdoor games, sports, debates, seminars, and socio-cultural events are there. A beautiful shopping is nearby from where students can buy essential items. The students in the college are restricted from forming any unions, associations, or society except those set by the authorities. Total security and safety of the students are ensured inside the campus.
