Medical Post Graduate options after doing MBBS from Egypt

After your MBBS, you can acquire a job and begin practicing as a physician. Though, just an MBBS degree isn't valued much in the present-day market. Moreover, as compared to specialists, the demand for general physicians is also less. So, you should have some specialization to have a bright future. Hence, you need to pursue medical post-graduation to specialize in a specific domain. It is not mandatory, but it opens the door to a better established medical career.

After completing MBBS in Egypt, you may have confusion regarding your further studies. You don't need to worry as there are multiple options ahead, from which you can choose and then pursue your dream job. If after your MBBS, you want to do your further studies in Egypt, the Egyptian Universities offer various specialized PG courses after MBBS. However, if you want to have an established career and want to pursue your medical PG from other leading countries like the USA, UK, Australia, etc., we are here to guide you for the same.

Notably, for pursuing a medical PG in a country other than Egypt, you will be required to clear their respective entrance exams (depending on the country) such as USMLE, PLAB, AMC, etc.

Here, we will be discussing medical PG in some leading countries after MBBS in Egypt.

Post-Graduation in the US

On successful completion of your MBBS in Egypt, you can pursue your PG in the US. There is a definite procedure for this. You are required to appear for the USMLE exam and obtain 230 plus marks. After qualifying for the USMLE, you can appear for USMLE-2 CK in India and become qualified for the Residency program in the US. After qualifying, you have to apply for a work visa in the US and then start your career. With a working visa, you can smoothly complete your medical post-graduation in the US.

PG in India

If you want to pursue medical PG courses in India after completing MBBS in Egypt then you should prepare for the NEXT exam. By clearing the NEXT, you will become eligible for the PG courses in India. Also, some Government Universities conduct their special entrance exams for PG courses. So, depending upon the university you choose for admissions into a PG course, you can search for the entrance exam requirements and complete your post-graduation. Notwithstanding this, it has been observed in the past years that students usually appear for the MCI exam and then apply for the PG. If you also want to proceed like this, make sure to consider the NMC guidelines. Specific guidelines are offered by the National Medical Council (formerly MCI) for PG programs for students who have completed their MBBS abroad.

PG in the UK

On pursuing your MBBS from Egypt, you can do your PG from the UK. Pursuing post-graduation from the UK lets you experience studying along with high-class educational standards. By completing your further studies, i.e., MD or MS abroad from the UK, you gain eligibility to practice in both the UK and India. Also, you can do MD or MS courses from the UK without giving PLAB. India accepts MD & MS in the UK without giving PLAB and GMC. The National Health Service (NHS) hospitals and UK universities offer superior opportunities for medical PG for Indian students.

PG in Australia

For pursuing a medical PG program in Australia, there are some specific requirements. First is an MBBS degree or its equivalent degree from any acknowledged university. Also, a decent score in English Language Proficiency Tests is needed. Then you have to pass the GAMSAT (Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test) or MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test) exam. If you complete your Master's from Australia and obtain the license to practice there, then you can work in India as well.

PG in Canada

For pursuing a PG in Canada, you first need to register yourself with the Canadian Medical Council. You can do either MCCEE or USMLE for medical PG in Canada. Both are recognized for licensing. The primary requisite for an Indian student in Canada is to obtain a valid medical license for the province, where you desire to practice. So, you have to pass the certification exams in the concerned province through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

PG in New Zealand

New Zealand is among the top countries for pursuing PG in medicine. You have to clear the NZREX Clinical exam for PG in New Zealand. An MBBS degree from any acknowledged university is required. Further, to practice in New Zealand, you first have to confirm eligibility for registration as a doctor. The Medical Council of New Zealand administers matters about registration and examination.

Make sure to research well before making a decision. We wish you good luck with your bright future!!
