The Janaki Medical College or in other words the Janaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital abbreviated as JMCTH lies in Ramdaiya Bhawadi of Chireshwarnath municipality in Nepal. The college and teaching hospital is a renowned institution inaugurated in the year 2003 with the main objective of enhancing the quality of life. The most important detail about this prestigious institution that deserves special mention is that the institute runs two separate hospitals alongside the medical college. The smaller of these two hospitals is a 150 bedded facility located in Ramdaiya and a slightly bigger hospital houses more or less 350 beds and lies at Bramhapuri in Janakpur. The college bears an affiliation to Tribhuvan University and functions under the guidelines put forward by Nepal Medical Council. The Ram Janaki Health Foundation acts as the management of the Janaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital. This particular foundation holds a registration to the Nepalese Company act.

Currently, the pinnacle of authority as a director at this private institution is held by Om Prasad Pandey. A total of 80 seats are allotted for MBBS at this institution each academic year.

The Janaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital offer a graduate certificate course in the field of medicine i.e. MBBS which is meticulously designed for the benefit of students. Apart from these undergraduate courses in Nursing are also offered here. The MBBS course program is tenured at a standard of 4.5 years followed by yearlong internship training. In order to encourage a hands-on and problem solving oriented education the initial 4.5 years of the program is separated into three phases. Each phase has its own group of subjects as primary focus that facilitates in-depth knowledge. For Example, the first and the second year of the program constitutes the first phase when clinical subjects like Integrated Basic Medical Sciences, Communication Skills, Community Medicine, and Clinical Exposure are stressed upon. The second phase of the course begins in the third year prompting the elaborate study of subjects like Applied Epidemiology, Family Health Exercise, Forensic Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, etc. The third phase of the course occupies the remaining one and half year when subjects like Surgery, Gynecology, Obstetrics, Accident and Emergency Medicine, Clinical Rotation in major clinical areas, Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, Dentistry, Pediatrics, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Ethics and Research, Information Technology, Internal Medicine are taught.

Student Accommodation on Campus

The Janaki Medical College and Teaching Hospital has excellent provisions of student quarters. These hostels are separated for male and female students. The campus houses that are assigned as hostels to students mainly lie on the Ramdaiya Campus. It is estimated that a maximum of 472 students can bunk at these establishments. Each of the hostels is provided with basic amenities dedicated towards the comfort and ease of students along with a 24 hr solar backup system.

The university runs from a sizable urban campus packed with modern facilities that make student life exciting. The college stresses the physical and mental growth of students hand in hand with academic development which is apparent from the outdoor playground and indoor games facility on campus. JMC houses a sizable library along with smaller departmental libraries and an e-library for the use of both faculties and students.
