Gono University is a private university in Savar, Bangladesh. The University was inaugurated in July 1998. In 1998, the Gono University was approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). From 2005, the University introduced its new academic courses with UGC approval. Presently, it administers the academic activities on its permanent campus at Nalam, Savar, Dhaka. It has five faculties, namely the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, the Faculty of veterinary and animal sciences, the Faculty of Science & Engineering, and the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies.
The Gono Bishwabidyalay (GB) was established by Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) Public Charitable Trust that came into being during our glorious War of Liberation in 1971. In harmony with the continuous support of the Gonoshasthaya Kendra to education, the concept of Gono Bishwabidyalay was evolved and incepted in 1994 as per the Bangladesh National Parliament Private University Act-1992.
The Gonoshasthaya Samaj Vittik Medical College Bangladesh (Gono Bishwabidyalay Bangladesh) offers quality medical programs under the supervision of highly qualified faculty and state-of-the-art infrastructure. The College is famous for its undergraduate medical programs (MBBS). Gono Bishwabidyalay is a not-for-profit institution accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC), and it is also approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Bangladesh. Major courses on health such as MBBS and BDS (Dental) are approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Most of the teachers of Gono Bishwabidyalay are full-time, highly qualified, and well trained. It is worth mentioning, though the education provided by Gono Bishwabidyalay is of a very high standard, its educational expenses are much less than that of other private universities in Bangladesh. The education programs of Gono Bishwabidyalay are semester-based (six months). So the students can acquire standard education easily which is the case with universities in developed countries of the world.

The Gono Bishwabidyalaya in Bangladesh spans an area of over 30 acres. It can enroll beyond 7045 students for medical education each year. The University has two libraries (science and Arts faculty from Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK). Gono Bishwabidyalaya has a decisively developed library encompassing a considerable stock of original texts, books & references, journals, compact discs (CDs), etc., for every field of study. Besides, the Gono University provides accommodation facilities to all its international students. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. All the hostels are equipped with all the essential facilities, including Television, access to the internet, central heating and air-conditioning systems, water and gas supply, and more. Also, each hostel room is under 24*7 surveillance of cameras and security guards to ensure the total safety of students.
The University promotes a multi-cultural environment that brings diversity. It enables the students to get along with other students and get familiarise with each other’s culture, customs, etc. and develops a healthy relation. The University organizes various student exchange programs, international seminars, projects, conferences, etc., and all the students are encouraged to participate in them. It will gradually help the students in gaining better experience and knowledge. Concerning the food facilities, the hostel mess provides hygienic & healthy Indian food, which is an additional advantage for the Indian students.
