Bangladesh Medical College (BMC), established in 1986, is the oldest private Medical College as well as the oldest private higher education institution in Bangladesh. The medical College is situated in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Corresponding to the College lies 500-bed Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, attached to the college building. The College was incepted in 1986 by Bangladesh Medical Studies and Research Institute (BMSRI), which is a non-profit organization that runs the College and the associated hospital. Also, it has a yearly subscription to 16 international medical journals. The library has enough space to seating 100 students. The College has five large, fully air-conditioned classrooms with closed-circuit televisions for lectures. Additionally, there are departmental tutorial rooms attached to the respective departments.
